XPeng P7+ goes global — 36 markets in one day, built in Austria

The Chinese EV maker's most aggressive Europe play yet: simultaneous launch across 36 markets, Brussels Motor Show debut, and final assembly contracted to Magna Steyr Graz.

The simultaneous-launch playbook

When Apple launches a phone, they do it in 100 markets the same day. When most automakers launch a car, they do it in one market and trickle out from there over six to eighteen months. XPeng just did it the Apple way.

The 2026 P7+ went on sale on January 8, 2026 in 36 markets simultaneously, with the European debut at the Brussels Motor Show the following day. Starting price: €43,990.

Thirty-six markets in one day. That's not a market launch — that's a statement of intent.

Why Magna Steyr matters

The detail that should worry every European competitor isn't the launch breadth. It's that XPeng has contracted Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria for final assembly of European P7+ units. Test production is complete. Cars destined for European customers will be built in Europe.

Magna Steyr is the most experienced contract manufacturer in the global premium auto industry. They build the BMW Z4, the Mercedes G-Class, the Jaguar I-Pace. When they take on a new client, that client gets European-grade build quality without owning a European factory. It's how XPeng compresses a five-year market-entry timeline into eighteen months.

It also has a regulatory subtext. EU tariffs on Chinese-built EVs sit at 17% on top of the standard 10%. A car finished in Graz isn't a Chinese-built EV in customs terms — it's an EU-built one. XPeng didn't say this aloud. They didn't need to.

What's coming next

The P7+ is the first wave. XPeng has confirmed five more models for European launch on the same Magna-Steyr-supported supply chain. The Mona L03 SUV arrives at a Munich brand event in July 2026. The flagship GX six-seat SUV — XPeng's answer to the NIO ES9 and Zeekr 9X — follows in October.

This is not a brand testing the European market. This is a brand betting it can take share faster than its Chinese rivals can follow.
