Scottish racing entrepreneur Tom Walkinshaw partnered with Holden in 1987 to create Holden Special Vehicles (HSV), based in Clayton, Victoria. HSV became synonymous with locally engineered high-performance Commodores for over three decades, selling more than 90,000 vehicles before GM discontinued the Holden brand in 2021. The business restructured as Walkinshaw Automotive Group, redirecting its capability toward American V8 vehicles available in Australia.
