The story
Willi Kohl and Herbert Schnitzer founded AC Schnitzer in Aachen in 1987, debuting the ACS7 based on the BMW 7 Series at that year's Frankfurt Motor Show. The company built its reputation through parallel involvement in DTM racing, feeding engineering insights back into road car products. After nearly four decades as one of BMW's best-known independent tuners, the Kohl Group announced AC Schnitzer will cease operations by the end of 2026.
